This is the grow kit | Excuse the husband in the background |
I went to Big Lots and as always they have a bunch of things I don't need, but I really want to buy.
This was a "grow kit" and brought everything you need, soil, pots, seeds and even those little "labels" so you know what they are.
Everything included in a $5 kit, why not?

This is what the actual packaging | This is the Spanish side |
The soil was compacted so you had to add water to fluff it up.
Then I added the loose and wet soil to the pots and put the seeds in.
I did add more water after putting in the seeds, however, the blueberries came with just 3 seeds and it was kind of tricky to actually see where they "landed" when I put them in the pot.
The real instructions that came in the back. |
I decided to keep the packaging instructions and seed packets, I also wrote down the date I planted the seeds: Sunday, February 22nd, 2020. All is saved in my Gardening Journal for 2020.
My gardening Journal |
Today is March 5th 2020 and all I've done everyday is water them with a spray bottle and move them every morning to my daughter's bed ( 1 of the 3 south facing windows we have now) she sleeps in a bunk bed so it is closer to the ceiling and warmer.
I also put a baking sheet under the pots so it catches the water.
This is the spot, but these are other seeds =D |
We are currently living in an RV Resort in Salt Lake City while we wait for the kids to be done with school to move permanently to our Yurt in Oregon.
I want to have some plants ready for when we move so we don't have to wait that long, therefore, I have to be very creative with the space. This works.
This is a close up of what the soil looked like |
I had a little accident and I dropped the blueberry pot, sorry, but moving it from the bed to the table and find a safe spot for the night...well it is an inconvenience but it is the best I can do for now.
I think that the little "drop" affected the plant, nothing is showing there, but in the instructions says that it can take up to 4 weeks, so I will wait. It is going to be the 2 weeks mark this Sunday March 7th, wish me luck, I still have 2 weeks of hope.
Look at the strawberry pot ! There is life |
On March 4th 2020, I noticed the strawberry plant growing, can you see it?
This is a phone picture I sent my husband who told me "if they haven't sprouted by now I don't think they will"
Well, here it is, there is life, and all the taking it to my daughter's bed every morning at 7am and bringing it to the dinning table at 4 then to move them to the kitchen "counter" at night it is finally paying off.
Ok "all that work" is a super dramatic statement, but to be honest I didn't know if it was going to work, for now there is hope.
I will report back as soon as I see more progress or death, let's hope for the first option.
